The Ben-Gurion Heritage Archives
*Winner of the President and Prime Minister’s Prize for 2023*
Situated in a new home, the historical Archives, influenced by the presidential library model are the joint responsibility of the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev and the Ben-Gurion Heritage Institute. The archives include hundreds of thousands of pages of Ben-Gurion’s handwritten diaries, his correspondence, articles about him, taped interviews, meeting protocols, and the various stages of his life, which shed light on the founding of the State.
The new archives building also includes a brand new 280 square meter exhibition hall, which brings the archival materials to life for the public. It preserves the experience of discovery, as visitors are welcome to open drawers and closet doors to discover the hidden gems of David Ben-Gurion’s writings. Here you have the opportunity to experience and discover Ben-Gurion through his own words. A visit to the archives will reveal Ben-Gurion as relevant as ever, and raise questions which concern not just the past, but also the present and future.
